DAVID L. OLSON Principal of FG Solutions
Prior to forming FG Companies, LLC in March 2007, Mr. Olson was an Senior Vice President of Metris Companies, Inc. (“Metris”), an issuer of general purpose credit cards. Mr. Olson was an executive at Metris from 1995 through to its sale to HSBC in 2006.
Mr. Olson is highly skilled in developing and implementing data driven customer segmentation and management strategies, multi-product cross marketing, insurance sales, customer behavior stimulation and retention strategies. At Metris, Mr. Olson was directly responsible for creating and developing a culture and platforms oriented around balancing service and sales.
Mr. Olson led the development and launch of Metris’ integrated e-servicing and sales platform, requiring a complex integration of all facets of a financial services organization (including Risk, Customer Service, Collections, Credit Operations and Application Processing).
In 2005, Mr. Olson became the business leader for Metris’ entry into the Discover Card network. In conjunction with this relationship, Mr. Olson was a central figure in the launch of Metris’ automated secondary lending platform.
Mr. Olson was instrumental in creating the Enhancement Services division of Metris, a business that created and marketed ancillary credit-related products to existing and new customers of Metris. During this time Mr. Olson led all facets of marketing and was a central figure in growing the unit’s revenues from $10 million to nearly $350 million over a six year period. Ultimately, Mr. Olson was instrumental in the sale of this ES division to CPP (for an undisclosed price) in 2003.
Mr. Olson was a member of several operating committees of Metris including Compliance, Credit Risk, IT and was an officer of the company’s card issuing bank.
Prior to Metris, Mr. Olson was employed at Fingerhut, the nations second largest catalog merchandiser. In this role Mr. Olson was responsible for developing and leading the company’s existing customer expansion programs, growing cross-sale revenues from $25 million to $300 million over a four year period
Mr. Olson holds a degree in Finance from the University of St. Thomas.
