WILLIAM R. ANDERSON Managing Director, FG Solutions
Mr. Anderson is an accomplished financial services professional with 25 years of experience working in the category. His background is focused in asset products, principally with some of the largest and most successful credit card issuers. He held general management and senior marketing roles among issuers, co-branded partners and suppliers to the industry.
From 2003 to 2007, Mr. Anderson was Executive Vice President and Managing Director of CPP North America, LLC., where he was responsible for the North American operations of CPP Group, plc. A worldwide provider of insurance, warranty and membership programs, CPP develops, direct markets and delivers products to consumers in collaboration with the world’s leading banks and financial services companies.
Prior to CPP, Mr. Anderson was EVP of Metris Companies, where he led the Enhancement Services business. In 2002, during a period of declining liquidity for Metris, Mr. Anderson strategically positioned the business for sale. He led the sale process, successfully providing Metris with a critical cash inflow while producing a 20% premium over the value of this business.
From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Anderson was Senior Vice President of E Commerce and Senior Vice President of the Enhancement Services business unit of Metris Companies. During this period, Mr. Anderson created a high quality product and distribution organization that grew revenues to over $300 million while greatly incrementing Metris bottom line.
From 1996 to 1998, Mr. Anderson was EVP of Marketing for Bank of America’s Credit Card business unit, where he initiated critical product diversification, acquisition, portfolio management, and customer retention for BofA’s branded and co-branded credit cards. During this period he was responsible for growth from $8 to $11 Billion of receivables prior to BofA’s acquisition by NationsBank.
From 1993 to 1996, Mr. Anderson was General Director of Marketing for General Motors’ GM Card, the fastest growing co-branded card in history. He was responsible for growing the business to 15 million accounts and $7 Billion of receivables.
From 1988 to 1993, Mr. Anderson was Vice President of Marketing for CoreStates Bank, a regional bank holding company centered in the Mid-Atlantic States. During this period, Mr. Anderson introduced the bank’s first Purchasing, T&E and small business credit cards, its first check access line of credit, and a multi-year brand advertising campaign.
From 1982 to 1988, Mr. Anderson worked for Citibank in a variety of credit card marketing roles for its Choice credit card, a regional general purpose credit card with a proprietary merchant acceptance network. The Choice card was the first general purpose card to offer consumers rebates based on their monthly spending activity.
Mr. Anderson began his career at Black & Decker, supporting product management, advertising and promotion, and multiple step distribution partners for its Workmate, Dustbuster and Outdoor products lines.
